Welcome and Self Introductions

Noerr LLP will welcome participants to the firm and the meeting.  Jarry Taylor, Chair of the Environmental Practice Group and Ben Haglund of the Toxic Tort and Product Liability Practice Group, will open the conference and welcome participants.  The participants will then be asked to introduce themselves, describe their background, how long they have been practicing, describe their firm’s environmental or toxic tort/product liability practice, and their own practice emphasis.

REACH and Similar Product Regulations in Other Jurisdictions Panel Discussion

Panel members will discuss and take questions from participants regarding the present status of the regulation of products and their potential impact upon human health and the environment in various North American and European jurisdictions, sharing problems and successes with such regulations.  Calling upon past trends and developments, panel members will share their views of the future of product regulation.

Toxic Tort and Product Liability Litigation Panel Discussion

Panel members will discuss and take questions from participants regarding the present status of toxic tort and product liability litigation in various jurisdictions, and how such litigation overlaps with, is interrelated with, or has been generated from product regulation.  Using their litigation experience and knowledge of the past development of such litigation, panel members will share their views of litigation trends and future developments.

Chinese Member Firm Update

 

Changes have recently taken place in China on tort law in the products liability area.  Members from Jun He Law Firm will provide an update on these developments.

Facilitated Marketing and Business Development Discussion

 

 

Attendees will then take part in a facilitated group discussion regarding the potential for business development activities for the Environmental and Toxic Tort and Product Liability practice groups. Attendees will participate in small discussion groups broken up by practice area focus.  Each group will have a set of discussion questions that will be reported on during another session.

Reports from Breakout Groups and Development of Action Plan

 

 

Each small group will present conclusions to the larger group.  The group will discuss action items for the groups going forward.
