Telecommunications Regulation Multi-Jurisdiction Survey

About the Telecommunications Regulation Multi-Jurisdiction Survey

This Lex Mundi multi-jurisdiction survey represents a country-by-country overview of some of the key components of telecommunications laws and regulations in over thirty countries across the globe.  Each Lex Mundi member firm was asked to respond to a series of questions regarding their jurisdiction.  The topics include, but are not limited to, the nature and extent of regulation of different types of communications services and the entities that provide those services, restrictions on foreign investment, the nature and extent of competition, and regulations impacting the internet and VoIP.

The descriptions set forth below are intended only as a general overview of the law as of November 2006.  No summary can be complete, and the following is not intended to constitute legal advice as to any specific case or factual circumstance.  Readers requiring legal advice should consult with the counsel admitted in the relevant jurisdiction.

The lead editor for this survey is Mark Trinchero the Chair of Lex Mundi’s Telecommunications Practice Group and a partner at Davis Wright Tremaine, LLP, in Portland, Oregon.  The survey’s coordinator is Tresa Beverly-Prince, Lex Mundi’s Practice Group Coordinator.
