LatinFinance recognizes Pellerano & Herrera, Lex Mundi member firm for Dominican Republic, for involvement in Dominican sovereign bonds issuance

The prestigious financial and business publication, LatinFinance recognized Pellerano & Herrera, the most awarded law firm of the Dominican Republic, for the firm’s participation in the sovereign bond issuance for which the Dominican State has been awarded as “Sovereign Issuer of the Year” during “2018 Deals of the Year Awards”.

The award was received during the ceremony held on January 31 in Gotham Hall, New York, by Ricardo Pellerano, managing partner of Pellerano & Herrera, and Caroline Bonó, senior associate, who were accompanied by partners Carolina León and Alessandra Di Carlo. Donald Guerrero Ortíz, the Minister of Finance received the award "Sovereign Issuer of the Year” on behalf of the Dominican State.

Pellerano & Herrera represented the underwriters Citigroup Global Markets Inc. and J.P. Morgan Securities LLC in two 144A/Reg. S offerings by the Dominican State, including a $1 billion aggregate principal amount of bonds due 2048 and a DOP40 billion aggregate principal amount of bonds due 2023. Senior associate Caroline Bonó was in charge of the legal work by Pellerano & Herrera. Caroline has over 13 years of experience in legal practice focusing on tax, corporate, regulatory and labor law. In the last year Caroline has participated in three bonds offerings by the Dominican State.

At the awards, the Dominican State was recognized as Issuer and, in addition to Pellerano & Herrera, the following firms were also recognized: Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, US counsel of the issuer; Citigroup Global Markets Inc. and J.P. Morgan Securities LLC, underwriters; and Simpson Thacher, US counsel of the underwriters.

The LatinFinance “Deals of the Year Awards” recognize the best transactions in Latin American finance and investment between October 2017 and September 2018.
