Lex Mundi Announces New Appointments to its Board of Directors with Eduardo Geli His Role as Chair

Additionally, Three New Directors to Begin Terms

Eduardo Geli has been elected as the new Chair of the Board of Directors for Lex Mundi, the premier global network of independent law firms. This significant appointment was finalized during the organization’s Annual Meeting in Vienna, marking a pivotal moment as Lex Mundi continues its mission to deliver unrivaled legal excellence and foster cross-border collaboration.

His career includes serving as head partner of Uría Menéndez New York office, followed by his role coordinating the firm’s Corporate Practice Area in Barcelona. Geli’s demonstrated leadership and depth of expertise have been instrumental in advising on high-value cross-border transactions and navigating regulatory challenges, underscoring his commitment to guiding the organization's strategic vision and expanding its global impact.

"I am honored to step into the role of Chair and look forward to building on the strong foundation of our global network,” Geli remarked. “Our ability to combine deep local expertise with vast global reach allows us to deliver unmatched legal service. I look forward to working with our members to tackle the complex challenges facing our clients today."

Helena Samaha, President and CEO of Lex Mundi, shared her optimism for the new leadership team, stating, “Eduardo brings tremendous insight and dedication to our network. The organization also announced its updated roster of officers. Meredith Rathbone of Steptoe LLP (USA, District of Columbia) advances to the role of Chair-Elect, while Sandy Foo of Rajah & Tann (Singapore) steps into the position of Secretary. Kristin Lentz of Davis Graham (USA, Colorado) continues her vital role as Treasurer, and Aniekan Ukpanah from Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie (Nigeria) transitions to Chair-Emeritus. Furthermore, Jennifer Vergilii of Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP (USA, Ohio) joins the Executive Committee.

At the Annual Meeting of Members, Lex Mundi also welcomed three new directors to its Board. The incoming directors are Catalina Santos of Brigard Urrutia (Colombia), Holger Alfes of Noerr (Germany), and Bashir Ahmed of Afridi & Angell (United Arab Emirates).

Departing the Board this year are Carlos Velazquez of Basham, Ringe Y Correa, S.C. (Mexico), Ingrid Pierce of Walkers (Cayman Islands), and Lukasz Lasek of Wardynski & Partners (Poland). Lex Mundi recognizes and thanks each of them for their significant contributions and dedicated service during their tenure.
