The Swedish government is working on various initiatives with respect to AI. The government has, inter alia, announced its plans on implementing an updated national AI strategy and given different authorities the task to investigate specific questions connected to AI. These guidelines are intended to be continuously updated. Separately, the IMY has published and periodically updates its “GDPR and AI” guidance, designed to ensure that AI development and deployment remain consistent with EU data-protection requirements. |

Updated 15 Aug 2025No. No specific legislation in addition to EU rules. The Swedish government is working on various initiatives with respect to AI. The government has, inter alia, announced its plans on implementing an updated national AI strategy and given different authorities the task to investigate specific questions connected to AI.
